The former Liberal federal government introduced a policy to halve the fuel excise in March for six months with an expiry date of September 20.
The current Labor federal government has refused to extend the reduction.
The weekly average in Tasmania was 175.4 cents per litre for unleaded petrol and 210.5 cents for diesel on Sunday.
In the week before the excise was cut, unleaded petrol was an average of 221 cents a litre for unleaded statewide and 228.5 cents for diesel.
In the week ending April 10, unleaded was 193 cents a litre and diesel was 203.7 cents.
Petrol prices peaked in July at 221 cents a litre on average in Tasmania for unleaded and 243.1 cents for diesel.
Since July 18, petrol prices have gradually decreased each week.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers last week said the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission would ensure that prices didn't unnecessarily shoot up rapidly straight after September 28.
He said plenty of petrol had been purchased at a lower price by distributers so an increase in the retail price should be delayed.
Dr Chalmers said at the moment, petrol prices in most parts of the country were almost 50 cents a litre below July prices.
The state government has a FuelCheckTAS app which provides Tasmanian motorists with real-time price information.
