The Bombers booted eight goals to the Demons' one in the second quarter and it proved to be enough, despite going goalless in the last.
North Hobart peppered the home side's defence in the last quarter but they stood strong, with coach Brad Cox-Goodyer relieved to get the victory.
"It was good to get the win because we probably played one quarter of footy and that was it," he said.
"I felt like the other three quarters, North Hobart were probably on top of us so we are lucky to get the result in the end but we'll have to take it and run."
As bad as Cox-Goodyer saw the other three terms, the second was a glimpse into the North Launceston of old with the names of the future.
The coach himself booted two trademark goals from outside 50, while Theo Ives also kicked two and Will Harper, second-gamer Isaac Newett, young gun Josh Rickard and the experienced Nathan Pearce rounded out the eight for the term.
However, in Cox-Goodyer's eyes, it was the defence that set the tone.
"It just shows what we can do when we do things our way," he said.
"I thought our defence is what set that up, we were in North Hobart's face and they were kicking the ball down the line a lot and turning it over.
"When we had the chance to rebound the ball from our back half, our ball movement was pretty quick and fast and gave our forwards good looks."
For the five-time premiership player, performances like that have to be his side's benchmark if they are to stay entrenched within the top four.
"That's where we've got to be because if we're at where we were in the third, the last and even the first quarter, we'll be a lot way off both sides.
"Obviously Lauderdale knocked off Launnie today so the comp is looking pretty good and you've got to show up on the day."
North Hobart started the contest with a bang, as coach Clinton French dominated the opening minutes.
He took a strong contested mark in range and handballed it off to Callum Kilpatrick for the side's first, before kicking their next two to set up an early lead.
Newett kicked North Launceston's sole goal for the opening term but it was met with one from Matt Campbell, giving the Demons a 14-point quarter-time lead.
The Bombers led by 29 at half-time after their second-term show, but Newett's third and a classy Blade Sulzberger finish the only majors for them in the second half.
Goals to Angus Norton, French (his third), Lachlan Murphy-Dale, Callen Daly and Thomas Liefhebber pushed the Bombers but their defence held on while the young guns impressed the coach.
"I thought Will Manshanden in his first game was really good - nice and clean with the ball in hand - and he's only a little fella but he's really crafty and Isaac Newett in his second game kicked three goals up forward and looked dangerous as well," he said.
"Alex [Lee] dominated the ruck again and Dom Hay was really good before he hurt himself ... and Theo Ives gave us some real good contests as the big guy down the line."
Ryan Edmonson, George Mcleod and Kilpatrick were adjudged North Hobart's best three players in the tight loss, with both sides set to be boosted by the inclusion of their Tasmanian Devils players next week.
Cox-Goodyer's Bombers have eight playing at NAB League level this week, with most of them likely to make their North Launceston senior debuts.
"Obviously we'll get them for one game but it's a pretty good game to get them for against Kingborough," he said.
"There's going to be some guys that miss out that are playing good footy but that's what you want at your footy club and it will be very exciting to see what we can do with a stronger squad."
