The move was propelled by the proposed St.LukesHealth redevelopment on Cimitiere Street, which requires the bakery-cafe to vacate while work gets underway.
While the cafe intends to re-open on Cimitiere Street once the development is finalised, owners Rob and Olivia Morrison have confirmed that they intend to stay on at the new location as well.
"Ultimately, we'll have two locations. They'll be similar but also a little bit different," Mr Morrison said.
The freshly renovated heritage-listed site now includes outdoor and upstairs seating and a temperature-controlled prep room open for public viewing, which was particularly exciting for Mrs Morrison.
"At our Cimitiere Street location, making croissants in 30-degree heat was nearly impossible. Now, people can also walk over and get an up-close look too," she said.
In tandem with the move across the CBD, Bread + Butter has also opened a new bakery location in Lilydale, which has been repurposed from an old service station.
Patrons venturing out to Lilydale can also buy baked goods from the bakery on Friday through to Sunday as well as on public holidays.
During the rest of the week, the new bakery will supply the Elizabeth Street cafe - and eventually the revamped Cimitiere Street location - with the eatery's signature breads and pastries.
At the new Princes Square site, the cafe will continue to offer its existing menu, with a new menu still in the works that will take advantage of the renovated kitchen facilities.
Other plans are also in the works to take advantage of the new location's proximity to Princes Square, including woolen picnic blankets from Waverley Mills for customers to use.
Bread + Butter officially opens at the new Elizabeth Street location on Friday, March 25.
