Set to face the Sydney Kings in a five-game series from Friday, the JackJumpers defeated Melbourne United 76-73 to seal their spot.
Plenty of influential people including basketballers and other athletes took to social media to celebrate the victory and here are some of the best reactions.
Corey 'Homicide' Williams - 2010 NBL MVP and commentator
"This is the shot that will change Josh Adams' life simply because he had the balls to not only take it, but make it! He is a flat out dog! Welcome to the NBL grand finals.
"[NBL and JackJumpers' owner] Larry Kestelman is a visionary. Everything he touches turns to gold! He is a man who simply will not lose. Getting to Tasmania was a power move that's paid off in a way that will change sports in that state forever. Just know this... he got there first."
Greg Hire - four-time NBL champion
"I'm honestly smiling ear to ear right now and Tassie isn't my team. A team full of players in the past who have been constantly mocked, berated and abused on social media is in the NBL grand final. Sydney are an amazing lineup. What a fantastic encounter this will be."
David Bartlett - former Tasmanian Premier and basketball aficionado
"So when do we start building the statue outside the MyState to this bloke? #InRothWeTrust."
Mitch Robinson - Brisbane AFL player
"If the JackJumpers win tonight, and the grand final. I'll get the logo tatted on me! #TassieRep."
Liam Santamaria - NBL journalist
"What the JackJumpers have done in NBL '22 is the most remarkable thing I've ever seen in the NBL. Nothing but admiration. They represent everything that's great about sport.
The JackJumpers are the first expansion team to make it to the NBL Grand Final in their inaugural season since the Geelong Cats in 1982. But to do it as a brand new club - starting from absolute scratch... that's absolutely incredible
"Just got a text: 'I'm thinking about the Tassie fans who were devastated when the Devils got their MARCHing orders in '96... now the ultimate prize is within their reach. Some will be sitting in the crowd at GF game 2 with their own kids & a tear in their eye."
Mark Nash - former NBL player (responding to Santamaria's Tweet)
"I played in that last game in '96. We thought the team would be back in '98. It's such a joy now to sit in the stands with my teenage kids. The basketball environment in Tasmania right now is unbelievable!"
Jack Riewoldt - Richmond AFL player on SEN Hobart
"I woke up with a spring in my step this morning. How great was it to be a Tasmanian supporter."
Matt McQuade - NBL commentator and historian
"I also want to give a shoutout to my guy [Jarrad Weeks] for continuing to play with unbelievable energy and fearless commitment. And for hitting two massive triples tonight. Just a great guy who thoroughly deserves to be a part of this JackJumpers fairytale."
