After maintaining a 30-day trial for the lockers since February, Ms Ritchie said she will be relieved if the one year extension is approved at the meeting on Thursday, April 21.
"It would mean the people who are using the lockers at the moment can continue with the service," she said
"They can have a safe space for their belongings and keep their items dry now that the rain is here."
Ms Ritchie said so far the operation has been well managed and had no issues.
"[Council] have been supportive," she said.
"If [they don't pass the motion] we'll have to tell everybody the lockers are going and to take their things.
"If they take the lockers away, I don't know what we'll do. They're nearly filled up, it's quite a few people who are all ready struggling with their mental health and where they are in life.
"To have that taken away from them and giving them another stress to now carry their belongings around all day everyday, is going to put pressure on their mental health and physical wellbeing."
The locker trial began after a survey conducted by City Baptist found the greatest need for people who were homeless was a place to store their belongings.
Strike It Out had completed their mobile storage project and had sought a suitable location through the council.
Suitable locations were found by council officers that included open and safe access, good lighting, and close proximity to toilets. The location 88-96 Paterson Street, Launceston, accessed via Park Street was selected.
A 30-day trial period ran from February 7 to March 4, 2022.
Council held a workshop presentation on March 31 proposing a 12-month agreement be developed as an extension to the current trial.
