Lifeline Tasmania has received a $16,000 donation after six mates braved the Bass Strait

It sounds like a daunting task but John Beswick, Michael Westcott, Bob Stolk, Rod Rylah, Brett Walters and Dave Gray completed the task as they pulled into Bridport on Saturday.

At the time of writing, the group had managed to raise in the vicinity of $16,000 thousand for Lifeline Tasmania.

Rider Dave Gray said while the group was already close, the journey across the strait had bought them closer together.

"We were good mates before but it probably goes to another level were you trust each other more ... and you're sharing the same experiences," he said.

"We've honestly enjoyed everyday, even the first two which were pretty hard."

The group encountered some tough conditions but also experienced some of the best nature had to offer.

"First two days, we had four metre swells but they weren't breaking which meant we could ride over the top of them and we just had to stick with it," Mr Gray said.

"On the way to King Island, we had a 100 dolphins near us, fins came from all directions, I think each skier had about twenty dolphins.

"We just loved it."

Vicki Smith, clinical services operations manager at Lifeline Tasmania, said the charity felt honoured to be helped by the riders.

"We are so pleased when community organisations help us keep the lights on to help vulnerable Tasmanians," she said.

"We're pleased to see ordinary blokes to be helping ordinary blokes."

The money raised, which is expected to go up, will go directly into funding Lifeline's services to help the community.
