With the 19-team NTFA competition one of three leagues, alongside Darwin and ODFA, to suspend its 2020 season, interested players could be given a second chance with all leagues around the state agreeing to a COVID-19 by-law.
The new ruling reads as follows: "in the case of a player moving from one club to another due to their existing club or league either not submitting teams, or participating in 2020, a player will be eligible for a Type 2 permit for the 2020 season and will revert back to their original club at October 31 2020."

With no restrictions on the amount of players able to move between clubs, the North's two State League clubs could have free range to the NTFA's high-end talent.
With the likes of North Launceston premiership players Josh Ponting, Jordan Cousens and Karlton Wadley signed at NTFA premier division clubs, the new by-law makes a red-and-black reunion a possibility.
