Players will play for free and umpires will receive reduced payments in a 12-week home and away season which will begin July 18 and be followed by a two-week finals series concluding on October 18 or earlier.
AFL Tasmania chief executive Trisha Squires said obtaining state government approval would be the final box to tick before getting a season under way.

"The impact of COVID-19 has been unprecedented on our industry and it is nice to have some good news to share," Squires said.
"Through a lot of hard work and sacrifice from all involved within the TSL, we are now in a position to confirm a 2020 season will take place for the state's premier men's and women's competitions.
"It is going to look different to regular seasons and we may see some innovation to see the season played but I think everyone is just excited to play now."
Further details including fixtures will be released over the next few weeks.
North Launceston and Launceston coaches Taylor Whitford and Mitch Thorp both welcomed the news with optimism on Wednesday.
"We were hopeful throughout that we would get games," Whitford said of the coronavirus break.
"It didn't look likely there for a while but everything in Tasmania has gone to plan of late.
"Hopefully it continues that way and we can get games because the unknown is if there was another outbreak the season would be halted again, so we've got to understand that."
