More than 50 of the world's leading models will visit Launceston later this year to vie to be the next world supermodel.

As part of the Annual World Supermodel Production and International Fashion Week, models from 32 different countries will use Tasmania as their catwalk.
The crowning ceremony will be held on Tuesday, October 13 at Launceston's very own Princess Theatre.

The models will arrive in Launceston on October 6, and stay until October 14.
Australiasia producer Sue Rees said following the Launceston girls performing so well in the 11th annual World Supermodel event held in Fiji in 2019, event executives were excited for the Tasmanian event.
Launceston's Chelsea Freestone won World Teen Supermodel and Best Evening Gown, and Liana House won world Teen Supermodel Runner Up at the Fiji event.
Many of the directors were here in July 2019 for the final of Miss Teen Tasmania.
"Executives from the World Supermodel Production confirmed Launceston as the host city and are excited to be returning to Launceston to experience the warmth and hospitality that was bestowed on them from the community while attending the finals of Miss Teen Australia," Ms Rees said.

Last year's production was a televised event and online global webcast, Ms Rees said.
"That received a huge amount of public coverage throughout the USA, India and the South Pacific," she said.
"New York Model Management have confirmed they will be attending again this year and look forward to coming to Tasmania and scouting for new faces for their agency based in the USA."
In 2019, Japan took out the annual title, winning a one year contract with the New York model company.
