The Glamorgan Spring Bay Council voted to rezone the 3185-hectare property at Dolphin Sands in April to make it available for commercial development.
The approved motion meant the public had 42 days to voice their opinion on plans for the development.
Plans for the property include a 150-room resort, a golf course, a health retreat, 161 units and villas and a palliative care unit.
Glamorgan Spring Bay mayor Michael Kent told The Examiner after the vote that the project would create jobs and economic growth in the area if it went ahead.
“A number of people I’ve spoken to aren’t necessarily against the proposal, but they have concerns about various aspects of it,” he said.
“Developers will explain all of the necessary aspects to them.”
A development application will be submitted to the council by the developer, along with comments from the community, in the near future.
