The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, won nearly $1 million after purchasing a ticket from Prospect Lotto for the weekend’s draw.
When she found out on Monday, she said she was shocked. The win came at the right time, with the woman planning to buy a new mattress but struggling to come up with the funds.
“Now I can buy a whole new bed, or a whole new house,” she said.
After a holiday, she said she plans to pay off her house and put some money aside for her children. Prospect Lotto manager Michael Di Guglielmo said he was thrilled to sell another division one winner.
“We are so happy a Launceston local has won and there has been another winner in the area,” he said.
“Customers are always asking me when we will sell another division one winner, so now I’ll be able to tell them we have. I’ll put a sign up on the front counter letting everyone know.”
Four entries won in the draw. Along with the Tasmanian winner, Victoria had two winning entries, and one was from South Australia.
