Unaware they had secured the winning ticket from Meadow Mews News and Lotto, the family spent a happy Christmas at home before receiving the call on Wednesday to let them know they were one of 10 division one winners across Australia.
The only Tasmanian entry to win, the family now look forward to a white Christmas next year in Germany.
“We will pay off the house,” the winner said.
“We will have to sit down and let it sink in first and keep it to ourselves. It will be enough to sort our lives out – it’s basically going to change our lives.”
The numbers chosen by the winner were all family birthdays or or favourite numbers. It was the 20th division one winner Kings Meadows News and Lotto have sold.
