A cold front will cross Tasmania on Friday, bringing with it thunderstorms and heavy rain.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a flood watch for the North Esk, South Esk river basins and the Huon River.
Catchments in the North East are dry, but the upper Huon River catchment is wet from rainfall last week.
The bureau is predicting widespread rainfall in the Huon and across the North East on Friday, with rainfall totals possibly exceeding 100 millimetres over the next three days.
Launceston is in for a mixed bag on Friday: There’s a chance of a thunderstorm with possibly heavy falls, a very high chance of rain and light winds throughout the day. A maximum of 25 degrees is predicted.
The wet weather will continue over the weekend with rain and wind predicted for Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday will reach a maximum of 17 degrees and a maximum of 16 degrees for Sunday.
Last week the bureau predicted November would be a record-breaking month with some of the hottest average maximum temperatures in the state’s history.
