Dozens of MG car owners are expected to roll in to display the famous marque for MG May Day, with owners encouraged to bring everything from vintage pieces to the latest models.
NAMT assistant manager Dylan Costello said the day was a space to celebrate the brand with likeminded owners.
"There just isn't really another MG car show in the state, so we thought this would be a good thing to do," he said.
The event, supported by the MG Car Club of Tasmania, will run from 10am to 2pm and will provide food, drink and discounted entry price to the museum.
Ex-president of the MG Car Club Phil Tilley said the day was about opening the door to all MG enthusiasts.
"In this particular event we're not only after club members, but we're after the general public as well," he said. "And of course, new MGs that are coming out of Asia now are welcome too."
Mr Tilley, who is also a life time member of the club, said that Launceston was particularly well placed to host the event.
"The fact that Targa Tasmania starts here, the fact that we have Symmons Plains [Raceway] right on our doorstep, the fact that a lot of rallies and national meetings are held here...it can encompass the whole state without people having to travel far."
Mr Costello said he expects at least 30 cars to come.
"This is our first one, but if it's a successful event we'll definitely make it into an annual event."
