Wet conditions at Dial Park plus a delayed commencement to the game due to a flight delay forced a sluggish start in the first term as the Devils and Knights battled to adapt to the conditions.
The visitors made the most of their opportunities in the opening term to slot two goals while the home side registered five behinds with plenty of work to do heading into the second term.
The Devils hit their straps heading into the main break as they put on four goals to two to leave the scores even at half-time. Heath Ollington, Seth Campbell and Brandon Leary all added their first while Splann grabbed his first of four goals for the match.
"[Will] did a power of work over the pre-season to get himself into pretty good condition and he's started the year extremely well, he's obviously a high-end talent," Devils' coach Jeromey Webberley said.
It was the third term where the home side clicked into gear across the ground as their defensive intensity prevented the Knights from scoring. The Devils' defensive unit, led by Tom McCallum, put the clamps on the visitors and allowed a solitary goal for the term.
The Devils seized their attacking chances with Jack Callinan and Splann registering majors in the five Tasmanian goals in the third term.
Webberley was impressed by the Devils' ability to adapt their game to the conditions in the second and third terms.
"It was more about maintaining territory and getting the ball moving forward to give our forwards an opportunity one-on-one and we really started to do that through the back-end of the second quarter," he said.
"We've got six or seven guys that can kick multiple goals on any given week so the last two weeks are about simplifying our game and getting the ball moving forward."
A six-goal to three final term ensured the Devils would leave Dial Park with their undefeated record in NAB League intact ahead of a game against Sandringham next week.
Mitch Nicholas and Nathaniel Sulzberger made their Devils debut.
"I thought Sulz and Mitch really applied themselves, especially Mitch, I thought he was cool and calm under pressure," Webberley said.
