Community consultation with the Deloraine and surrounding communities finished in mid-March but no further update had been provided.
Corrections Minister Elise Archer said they were still working through the feedback.
"The consultation period has now ended with a few late submissions," she said.
"The feedback received is currently being worked through and I hope to have more to say on this shortly."
The government has already identified Ashley has being potentially appropriate, but had committed to fully consulting with the nearby community in an effort to avoid similar issues it encountered with the Westbury community.
The selection of Ashley would avoid the need to carry out extensive land clearing and rock blasting to construct a maximum security prison on a bush reserve on Birralee Road, which had generated extensive opposition from nearby residents and environmental groups.
Premier Peter Gutwein announced in September that Ashley would be considered, but Westbury Region Against the Prison president Linda Poulton said it had been six months with no more answers.
She said they had written to the Northern Correction Centre project team asking for an update.
"The consultation process on the future use of the Ashley site ended three weeks ago. WRAP has been informed that public input into the process was limited," Ms Poulton said.
"Everyone has waited far too long to know what the government plans to do in our municipality, and the silence is deafening."
Ashley would be the third site chosen for a prison after the first site - in an industrial estate on Westbury's northern fringe - was abandoned, and the proposal was moved further up Birralee Road.
