Seven hundred vouchers worth $300 each are up for grabs to spend on accommodation and experiences on the island during May, June or July.
"We acknowledge that King Island has faced some challenges due to COVID-19 earlier this year, and this voucher program is part of a suite of travel initiatives for King Island implemented as part of our COVID-19 recovery support," Premier Peter Gutwein said.
"The travel incentive seeks to accelerate visitation to the island during the traditionally quieter winter season to support the island's tourism operators and economy in general.
"King Island is the perfect escape for a feast of famously good produce, island hospitality and legendary golf."
Despite the scheme aiming to increase visitation to the island, the interest may be impacted by the latest COVID-19 data.
The data revealed King Island had recorded 31 cases per 1000 people in the week ending March 26.
This was the second highest COVID case rate in the state.
Tourism Tasmania is supporting the voucher program with a marketing campaign targeting Tasmanians and travelers from Melbourne.
Ballot registrations for the vouchers open Thursday 9am and close at 5pm on Sunday.
Successful registrations will be selected at random and recipients will be notified via SMS and email on April 11 with their voucher code.
Once successful, bookings must be made via the King Island tourism website between April 11 and 20.
