It started on Friday night at Youngtown, where Old Scotch took down South Launceston 6.4 (40) to 2.3 (15) to shut the door on the latter's finals hopes.
The Thistles left the Doggies scoreless through the opening two quarters, while also kicking away goals of their own.
This was orchestrated by Georgia Nicholas, who kicked four for Old Scotch.
Old Launcestonians leapfrogged Hillwood into the final berth for the post-season by dispatching them 4.4 (28) to 1.2 (8) at Shark Park.
Taylah Lehman booted three goals for OLs, with Greater Northern Raiders captain Caitlyn Webster also adding a major.
Third seed Scottsdale appeared to be already playing finals form after walloping Meander Valley 5.8 (38) to 0.1 (1).
Goals were spread evenly across the finals-bound Pies, with Kate Minchin, Ellen Simons, Mollie Cornish, Georgina Dare and Brittany Woolley all adding a goal each.
Fourth-placed Bridgenorth also protected its finals spot against Evandale, cruising to a 8.8 (56) to 1.1 (7) win.
Parrots Emily McKinnell and Holly Randall kicked three majors each in the routing, with Ella Rigby earning top player votes for the side.

In its last game of the season, Deloraine doubled its win total by downing Longford 8.18 (66) to 1.1 (7).
Roos Taniel Bloomfield and Claudia Gardner led the pack with two goals each in the win, with Tiger Alanah Boyack booting Longford's sole goal.
Top-of-the-table Launceston took care of business against George Town 7.12 (54) to 0.0 (0) to remain undefeated entering the finals.
They've earned themselves a bye, whereas Old Scotch will face Scottsdale and Bridgenorth will battle OLs.
