Having played a game less courtesy of an early bye, the result puts the Magpies a game below fifth-placed Rocherlea, who boasts a superior percentage.
Described by Kangaroos coach Lochy Dornauf as "one of the toughest tests for the year" earlier this week, the away-from-home victory was led by skipper Jarrod Scott, who was named best on ground.
Teammates Dylan Schnoor and Adam Crawford both kicked two apiece as Jacob Wauchope, co-captain Stan Tyson and Tyler Kelly all impressed.
Dangerous Scottsdale forward Chev Deacon booted a game-high three goals, with Bradley Whish-Wilson and James Hayward the Magpies' best.
The 19-point margin proved comfortably to be the closest result of the round, with the other three games blowing out to beyond three figures.
Bracknell v George Town
With ladder-leader Longford on the week off, the next best thing Bracknell defeated George Town 20.17 (137) to 4.8 (32).
Bracknell coach Corry Goodluck was hoping for his players to start on the right foot but George Town got the jump, leading at quarter-time.
However, a seven-goal quarter got the game back on Bracknell's terms as the margin continued to grow before reaching its destination of 105.
Cameron Johns' six and Matty Dennis' three led the way, supported by fellow multiple goalkickers Nick Mitchell, Oliver Gibson and Ed Keach.
Dennis, who was identified by opposition coach Adam Zanevra as a dangerous target, racked up his fourth best-on-ground performance of the season alongside Mitchell and Cal Mulder.
The Saints were unable to add to their four-goal tally after half-time, with Austin Maynard, Shaun Muller, Zanevra and Vincent Mohr kicking them in a strong performance from Zayvier Quilliam.
Hillwood v South Launceston
After threatening to go big on several occasions, South Launceston forward Bart McCulloch snapped this week, booting 12 goals as the Bulldogs defeated Hillwood 23.14 (152) to 3.2 (20).
The effort brought the former AFL-listed big man's 2021 tally to 40, sliding into second behind Longford's Luke Murfitt-Cowen as he recorded the league's highest individual effort of the year.
The Bulldogs had a nine-goal last quarter as Aaron Viney finished with three and skipper Luke McCarty two, with McCulloch understandably named best on.
After being held goalless in the first half, Hillwood's Brad Templar, Nash Digney and Alistair Taylor found the big sticks, while coach Jake Pearce was named his side's best for the first time this year.
The win marked a strong turnaround for South Launceston, having lost to Rocherlea at Youngtown last weekend, while some potentially easier assignments await Hillwood with two bottom-four sides coming up.
Rocherlea v Bridgenorth
Rocherlea celebrating its 2011 premiership reunion proved rewarding, defeating then-opponents Bridgenorth 20.16 (136) to 3.5 (23).
Despite slipping to third in the goalkicking tally, Josh Holton led the way with six majors and had notable assistants in 2020 skipper Brayden Claridge (four), Dakota Bannister (three), Kaiden Cox-Goodyer and Josh Ponting (both two).
A strong six-goal first quarter was repeated in the second while holding Bridgenorth goalless with the Parrots only recording one more major, kicked in the final term.

Rohan Sergeant kicked two, with Matt Zanetto booting the other as the Parrots' youthful backline of Oliver Reid and Sol Scott hung tough throughout.
Jordan Cousens continued to show why he's one of the league's best as Claridge, Corey Anderson and Bannister also impressed.
The win takes the Tigers to three consecutive victories, having won four of the past five heading into George Town next week.
