Identifying the world cup as a goal in an interview with The Examiner late last year, the 17-year-old will be training at the Australian Institute of Sport from June 25-28, vying for selection in the August tournament, which will be held in Hungary.
One of 15 current or former scholarship holders of the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence in the squad battling for Gems selection, Wise's talents have drawn praise from Launceston Tornadoes coach Sarah Veale.
"Lauren's obviously got a massive future in the game, she's got a really high ceiling," she said.

"She's 17 years old and probably one of the tallest players in her position in the country and she hasn't stopped growing yet, she's developing really well.
"Her playing in NBL1, we know that she's a developing player and I think that's been really important for her to go through that and have that culture and team supporting her to help her get better in her role as a post player."
In her first season at the Torns, the former St Patrick's College student has played five games and spent 20 minutes on the court four times - collecting five rebounds against Diamond Valley.
"Lauren is a great screener and she will be a great rebounder ... she's also got a really high IQ in terms of basketball, so she gets the game as well," Veale added.
"When she finishes developing, she will be an outstanding player."
Australia will play Egypt, Italy and the USA at the world cup.
