West Tamar Council has acknowledged the efforts of their community members at a volunteer recognition ceremony over the weekend.

The council awarded the volunteer of the year, young volunteer of the year and volunteer group of the year as well as the nominees and nominators at a dinner on Friday.
Mayor Christina Holmdahl said the award ceremony played a special part of recognising those in the community who went above and beyond.
"The West Tamar Council Volunteer Recognition Awards acknowledge those who have consistently given selflessly to others as valued members of our local community," she said.
"On behalf of the West Tamar Council and everyone in our community, I thank them most sincerely for their contributions."

Greg Squires was recognised for as volunteer of the year for his efforts working with West Tamar Council's northern area advisory group and West Tamar Landcare group.
"Totally unexpected. It's nice to have recognition of the project and I think that for me there are so many other people involved that I really accept the award on behalf of the landowners, volunteers, council, farmers and graziers and Bridget Archer," he said.
"It has really been a big group effort. I'm stunned to receive the award but glad the big community effort has been recognised."
Cooper McKercher was recognised as young volunteer of the year for his immense amount of work with West Tamar Youth Advisory Council and volunteering for Lead Inspire Grow Camp, Catch it in the Catchment, Youth Festivals, Schools Out, Skate Comps and The Rock Challenge.
Mr McKercher said he was honoured to be awarded the young volunteer of the year award on the night.
"Speechless and proud to win and be a part of such a great community of volunteers," he said.
West Tamar Rotary were recognised as volunteer group of the year for their community work and their fundraising which helps support and build community projects.
President Lex Van Dongen said the club was proud to be recognised at the award ceremony.
"It's means a lot that were recognised in the community doing a lot of activities where we can assist the community in surviving," he said.
