IN OTHER NEWS:
St Pats teacher Ann Viney said the student cohort were fully supportive of the fundraising efforts for a cause close to their hearts.
"Cancer touches so many people. We have two students here living with cancer," she said.
"Raising money for Cancer Council Tasmania is amazing, but it's also important to teach the students about the benefits of helping others and the experience of Relay For Life."
Cancer Council Tasmania chief executive Penny Egan said that the annual event had come to mean so much to the community and St Pats community.
"Relay For Life is Cancer Council Tasmania's major fundraiser annually, but it's so much more than that for the participants," she said.
"Relayers remember and celebrate both their losses and their success of survivors.
"We know that many former St Patricks College students continue to Relay because of what it means to them and their families."
The fundraising efforts support the Cancer Council's research, prevention and support services throughout the year.
