Time is running out to lodge a permit application for this year's Cracker Night.
Bright Star Fireworks director Cherida Palmer said because the event was cancelled last year due to COVID-19, the uptake of permits was the best in over a decade.
"We are seeing a real surge in demand this year from both new and loyal customers who want to know how Cracker Night works and what they have to do to put on a fireworks display at their property or event," she said.
Though Cracker Night will be held on May 29, applications must be submitted to WorkSafe Tasmania at least 21 days prior to the display date, or in this case May 7.

Ms Palmer said the permit conditions stipulated fireworks could not last longer than 30 minutes, could not start before 6pm, and must not continue after 10pm.
Firefighting equipment must be available and fireworks will not be permitted during high winds, total fire bans, or at locations that do not meet safety requirements.
"All indicators point to 2021 being the best Cracker Night on record as families and community groups are so motivated to celebrate together, with a touch of the magic only fireworks can bring, as we all emerge from COVID stronger than ever" Ms Palmer said.
