Hear the sweet sounds of the Tamar Valley in a new album released by local musician Phillip Ragan.
The new album, By The Tamar, is a Christian folk blend of music and five of the songs highlight the localness and beauty of the Tamar Valley.
Ragan said he was very passionate about the Tamar Valley area and his Christian faith.
"I found Jesus as my saviour in 2016 ... and by then I was somewhat established as a folksinger on the mainland, and really I just changed direction [with my music]," he said.
"I didn't change my style but I just changed direction and the lyrics."
The artist moved to Tasmania in April 2019 and was inspired by the landscape and "sheer beauty" of the area.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"I just got all of these songs coming into my head and I wanted to give it that flavour, the Tamar Valley kind of feel."
He said the style of the album is very lyrical and he enjoyed making words rhyme.
"[I'm] perhaps a little old fashioned in the way I write songs."
The artist played rhythm guitar and keyboard, and recorded his music here before sending it to a producer in Melbourne to add in other elements.
Ragan has been a singer and songwriter since 2006 and he is heavily influenced by Bob Dylan's work.
