Minister for Primary Industries and Water Guy Barnett said the program is necessary to balance the impact of deer on primary industries and environment with maintaining a deer herd as a traditional recreational hunting resource.
"The plan will build on the results of the recently completed aerial survey component of the deer," he said.
It was estimated there were about 54,000 Fallow Deer in the area of the survey.
