Mr Griffin, who was employed as a paediatric nurse at the Launceston General Hospital between 2001 and 2019, died last year at 69 after being charged with numerous criminal offences. But it wasn't until last week that his identity became publicly known.

As the state government prepares to commence an independent inquiry into the allegations that Mr Griffin committed acts of child sex abuse in that period, new information has surfaced relating to other places the late nurse worked at over the years.

After it was reported that he was employed as a property officer responsible for maintaining the student accommodation at the University of Tasmania's Newnham campus for more than a decade, Communities Tasmania has confirmed that Mr Griffin spent time working at Ashley three years ago, where he provided medical care to juvenile detainees.

"Mr Griffin was seconded to AYDC for just over five months from late 2017 in the position of nurse," a Communities Tasmania spokesperson said.

"It is standard practice at AYDC that all young people who attend the nurse are accompanied by a youth worker and there is no record of any complaints made by young people or staff at AYDC in relation to Mr Griffin."

Meanwhile, a TT-Line spokesperson said that while Mr Griffin had not been directly employed by the business, he was one of a number of people a labour hire company contracted to provide relief medic service on the Spirit of Tasmania ferries.

He was employed through the labour hire company between October 10, 2003 and January 2, 2009.
