The efforts of extraordinary individuals in our community have been recognised through the 2020 Tasmanian Young Achiever Awards with winners announced on Thursday night.

Gabrielle Dewsbury, 17 of Newnham, won the prestigious First National Real Estate Leadership Award. She pioneered the student-led School Strike 4 Climate movement that fought for climate justice, led multiple other climate strikes, and set up a student wellbeing committee at her school.
Ms Dewsbury leads the "Heath is Wealth" initiative, which runs workshops focused on mental health and has partnered with Beyond Blue to expand nationwide.

She is also on multiple other committees - including the Australian Youth Climate Coalition - speaks at conferences around the state, has won multiple awards, and represented Tasmania at the UN Youth Aotearoa Leadership Tour.
Benjamin Coe, 23 of Flowery Gully, won the Spirit of Tasmania Tourism and Hospitality Award.
He is a tour guide and supervisor at Platypus House and is responsible for running tours, assisting staff and liaising with tour directors. He is enthusiastic and passionate about animals and tourism.
Mr Coe's work led to the opening of a platypus exhibit at San Diego Zoo which took him through as a finalist in Chilli 90.1fm's Champions of Tourism Awards.
Winners of the Tasmanian Young Achievers Awards each received $1000 along with a trophy.
Toby Thorpe, 18, of Huonville, and winner of the Heather and Christopher Chong Community Service and Volunteering Award, was later also announced as the 2020 Premier's Young Achiever of the Year. He received an additional $2000 from the Tasmanian government and a state trophy.
Samantha Andrews was announced as the People's Choice Award winner and received an accommodation package and a $60 voucher to use at The Bruny Island Hotel.
