People get chatty about their travel voucher experience

The Examiner gauged the opinions of passers-by in the Brisbane Street Mall and there were mixed responses about the voucher experience.

Bruce Leyland-Morris had a disappointing experience with the release of the vouchers this morning.

"After trying to load the page for 38 minutes, I got on, filled in all the details that they asked, clicked submit, and then it immediately popped up that all the vouchers had been used," he said.

Mr Leyland-Morris said he was unimpressed with the system and wondered how many vouchers were actually released to the public for them to be snapped up so quickly.

"How could all the vouchers be taken up in 38 minutes when they are spending something like 10 million on the vouchers," he said.

He said if the government were to do this again that they should make more vouchers available.

Jennifer Livingstone counts herself as one of the lucky ones, with her husband getting the voucher for them just before the site was closed.

"My husband got on at 9am when they opened and he got his and then by the time my mother tried to get one it was closed," she said.

Ms Livingstone said she and her husband are planning to go to Hobart and use the voucher on accommodation there.

She also said she thinks they got an experience voucher too and they will look into what they can do with that.

A woman who wished to remain anonymous said she had no issues with the website and that for her, the process went straight through.

"I got lucky," she said. "I really feel sorry for the people who didn't get it."

The woman said her and her family are planning on going to Primrose Sands in about five weeks which is when they would normally be going to Sydney for a visit.
