North Launceston made it five wins on the trot with Wednesday's three-goal Northern derby win over Launceston, which catapulted the reigning premiers into top spot for the first time this season.
Whitford's side has beaten every team in the competition following a slow start to the year and the 28-year-old believes there's still growth to come.

"We've got keep building," Whitford said.
"We were happy with aspects of [Wednesday night] but we feel we're not at our ceiling yet, we're not playing the footy I know that the group can play so that's a really positive sign.
"We've got five games left now before potentially a finals tilt, if we can win one or two more games it looks like we'll finish in the four.
"It's a good position to play finals, but realistically it doesn't really matter this year because whether you finish first or fourth it's only a home ground advantage, it's not a second chance or anything."
The Bombers will likely have plenty of sore bodies after making just one change for Wednesday's win despite playing Glenorchy at KGV just four days earlier.
A nine-day break awaits before they return to action with another trip down the Midland Highway.
"We need it [a week off] after those two games," Whitford said.
The guys will have a week off, come back next Tuesday and prepare for North Hobart."
