The City of Launceston council has been asked to approve a development application that would see a Spectran transport depot and Clennett Hire hire yard established at 25 Merino Street in Kings Meadows.
A report prepared by Dean Grannetia from JSA Consulting Engineers indicated the development would include the demolition of an existing warehouse affected by fire.
In other news:
"The proposal is for the development of new office and warehouse buildings... associated works include the demolition of the existing warehouse and the construction of [a] private driveway, service infrastructure and crossovers into the site," Mr Grannetia wrote in a report lodged with council.
"There is expected to be five employees working at Clennett's Hire and two employees at Spectran.
"The Clennett's Hire site is expecting approximately six truck movements throughout a typical day... the Spectran site is expecting 10 truck movements throughout a typical day."
Mr Grannetia said a 4000 litre diesel tank for refilling machinery would be installed.
"Proposed landscaping and fencing will be utilised to lessen impact on views," he said.
"The types of items to be stored outside will be in line with the zoning and use of the site and will not detract from the amenity of the streetscape.
The public can comment on the proposed development until August 24 and view more details on council's website.
