Senior Constable Jareth Anderson said as police in an unmarked car pulled over and approached the stolen truck, it reversed into the police car and drove off.
He said it was incredibly lucky no one was hurt during the incident.
"When I heard the job come in, my blood went cold," he said.
"They're my officers and obviously I have concerns for them, I'm thankful they aren't hurt."
Police then set up 'spike points' around the suburb to ensure the truck could not escape.
Police then lost sight of the vehicle - it was found 10 minutes later ditched on Alanvale Road after smashing through a rock wall at a nearby reserve.
Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the truck last night as well as a black Holden Berina hatchback and a silver Holden Vectra or Astra with a spoiler in the Newnham or northern suburbs areas between 9pm and midnight Saturday.
"We believe these three vehicles may have people inside them that are responsible for some of these offences, or that may be able to provide us with information in relation to these offences," Senior Constable Anderson said.
"This was a very dangerous incident, the people responsible for this have no regard for community safety."
