Coronavirus has claimed one of Tasmania's top fishing events.
Trout Weekend, which drew more than 3000 people to Liawenee last year, has been cancelled for this year.
It was to have been held in May.
"Due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19 and following the federal government's ban on outdoor gatherings of over 500 people, Trout Weekend 2020 will not be going ahead," the Inland Fisheries Service said.
"The Inland Fisheries Service has reluctantly taken this measure, as this is an important event for anglers and the Central Highlands community alike."
The IFS said Trout Weekend would return in 2021, on May 15 and 16.
It said this year's fishing photography competition would continue, with winners to be announced at a later date.
