Warm weather has finally arrived - for the most part - and there's more of it to come.
Event planners have turned it on for the first year of the '20s, with outdoor activities from Mona Foma to the Cradle Mountain Film Festival, and something on offer for everyone from families to late-night revellers.

January
Fringe at the Edge of the World
WHAT: Tasmania's first fringe festival started up last year and, presenting four nights of uncensored, unjuried, comedy from over 60 acts coming from across the state and the country.

Mona Foma
WHAT: Mona's summer music and arts festival has well and truly settled into Launceston, with its third iteration this January. There will be big names like Paul Kelly and Amanda Palmer through to obscure acts like Slovenian industrial pop band Laibach and Japanese subversive girlband Chai, art takeovers of everywhere from Royal Park to Penny Royal, and late night party Faux Mo occupying the Workers Club from 9pm to 5am.

Barnbougle Polo
WHAT: Northern Tasmania's place to be and be seen, a high goal polo match and, equally importantly, fashions on the field.

Festivale
WHAT: A three-day celebration showcasing Tasmanian food and beverages, right in City Park. This year's event is headlined by Vanessa Amorosi, Eskimo Joe, and the Whitlams, with a full roster of other crowd-pleasing music.

Party in the Paddock
WHAT: It's the last year for this iconic Northern Tasmanian festival, started up by a bunch of mates who wanted to jam with their friends. This year, it's headlined by Matt Corby, Hermitude and Dune Rats.

AFLW
WHAT: The North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos will kick off their second AFLW season in Tasmania, when they go head-to-head with the GWS Giants in Round 2 in Launceston. Enjoy more than just a footy match, with live music, giveaways and meet club mascots Ruby and Kanga.

BMX Australia National Championships
WHAT: The premier event on the Australian BMX calendar, bringing together male and female riders from five to 50, this will be the first time in 26 years that the nationals has taken place in Launceston.

Targa Tasmania
WHAT: The world's largest Tarmac rally is designed for the true motoring enthusiast. The races take place on regular, sealed Tasmanian roads, from the Sideling in the North-East to the stretch between Queenstown and Strahan.

Supercars Supersprint
WHAT: The Tyrepower Tasmania SuperSprint is a must-see annual event for every Tassie racing fan. The 2019 season provided one of the closest and most exciting finishes to the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, and the drivers and teams will be eager to stamp their mark early in 2020 at Round 3.
