The warning has been issued for damaging winds in the north-east, south and central Tasmania.
Winds are expected to average 60-70km/h and peak at 100km/h.
IN OTHER NEWS:
The winds will begin in the south from from mid-morning, extending north late afternoon before easing.
Snow levels will drop to 700 metres on Friday in the south-west.
