A 22-lot subdivision has been proposed for the site, along with a road and balance lot.

It is understood there is a wedged tailed eagle's nest on the balance lot, which is not expected to have any development occur on it at this stage.

In a letter to the West Tamar Council, Tasmanian Greens senator Peter Whish-Wilson raised concerns about the 22-lot subdivision.

"I am inquiring as to what assurances the council has sought regarding the potential impact that the clearing of approximately 13 hectares of native bushland might have on nationally recognised threatened species," he said.

The West Tamar Council said it would reply to Mr Whish-Wilson's letter in due course.

A natural values assessment was completed as part of the application, submitted on behalf of the proponent by 6ty Degrees, but it did not mention wedge-tailed eagles being on site.

6ty Degrees' director George Walker said two field surveys were undertaken.

"We understand that the photos that have emerged showing the nest were taken within the last three to four weeks," Mr Walker said.

"Our understanding is that the nest appears reasonably new which leads us to believe that it was established between the last field survey and the day on which the photos were taken. This is why the nest may have not been identified."

Mr Walker said it is still unknown if the nest does exist on the site, but has engaged experts to undertake a field survey as soon as possible.

Tasmanian Greens leader Cassy O'Connor also wrote to the Environmental Protection Authority to raise her concerns.

Both Greens members said a number of residents had contacted them raising their concerns.

Tasmanian Devils and eastern barred bandicoots have also been seen on neighbouring properties.

The council said the application, which closed for public comment on Wednesday, has not been withdrawn.
