Police were called to the incident at a Sandy Bay unit complex at about 6.45pm on Friday September 13.
According to police, a 20-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy reportedly approached two separate groups of students demanding money.
Police allege the 16-year-old was armed with a 'cap gun'.
The two alleged offenders fled the scene without any stolen goods.
No injuries from the incident were reported.
Police responded promptly and apprehended the alleged armed robbers shortly after the incidents.
Both the 20-year-old and 16-year-old were interviewed and charged accordingly.
Tasmania Police has said investigations are ongoing into the matter.
