The win gives Tasmania a 2-4 record heading into its final round robin match against second-placed hosts Western Australia on Wednesday.
Tasmania will likely need to win to keep hold of fifth spot, with sixth-placed New South Wales poised to jump up to 3-4 should it get the better of Northern Territory.

Earlier in the week, Jamie Hayward's team kicked off its campaign with an opening day win against ACT as Nash Walker starred with three goals in a 6.4 (40) to 1.0 (6) victory.
Northern duo Lucas Wooton and Toby Callow were among the side's best in the win, while Launceston's Caleb Brewer was one of four goalkickers.
Callow and captain Ethan Bonde then backed up good performances in Tasmania's opener in a 50-point loss to 6-0 Victoria, with Walker and Wooton the side's only goalkickers.
The side battled hard in losses to Queensland (20 points), South Australia (35 points) and New South Wales (11 points) before Tuesday afternoon's win.
The championships wrap up on Thursday.
