A shotgun and a number of other items were stolen from a Ford Ranger parked at Country Club Tasmania’s villas on Saturday.

It is not yet known how many thieves were involved, but police are investigating the circumstances that led to and those involved in stealing the 12-gauge Beretta shotgun.
Tasmania Police Inspector Michael Johnston said there was nothing to suggest it was a targeted attack.
“It appears that they broke into the car and got lucky,” he said.

It is still early stages in the investigation, with Inspector Johnston calling on anyone with information about the theft.
“We already have some CCTV footage and it will be examined over the next few days,” Inspector Johnston said.
Early investigations indicate proper storage restrictions were complied with, Inspector Johnston said.
The owner of the gun was in Launceston for a shooting competition at Evandale.
