Tasmania is expecting extreme heat and gusty winds on Friday, creating difficult conditions for firefighters.
The Tasmania Fire Service has declared a total fire ban for the state from Thursday to Monday, with people being asked to rethink any activity that requires a spark, could have embers or start a fire.
As of Thursday, there were more than 50 fires across the state.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting temperatures on Friday will peak at mid to high 20s across most of the state, with inland areas in the south reaching low 30s.
The bureau is warning strong and gusty northwesterly winds combined with the hot temperatures will create very high to severe fire danger across the central, eastern and southern parts of the state.
