A 20-year old man who contracted meningococcal has been discharged from the Royal Hobart Hospital.
It was the second case of meningococcal confirmed in Hobart after a 16-year-old girl died recently from the disease.
Health officials did not believe the two cases were linked.
The young man was treated with antibiotics and his social and work contacts were provided with information about the reportable disease.
Symptoms of meningococcal can include fever, severe muscle aches and pains, headache, feeling unusually unwell, confused or drowsy and, late in the illness, a rash may occur.
Tasmania has on average four or five cases each year.
