Perkins’ punishment comes as the biggest suspension handed down by the NTFA in recent memory, and will see him miss the Saints’ 2018 finals campaign and a chunk of next season.
The incident took place during St Pats’ round 14 win at Invermay Park, but was not seen by an on-field umpire.
NTFA general manager Reg Lyons said Monday night’s hearing was “of a serious nature”, and required the tribunal to deliberate for an hour and a half before making its decision.
Perkins pleaded not guilty to the charge and has been given three business days to decide whether or not to appeal the sanction.
“They’ve got until close of business on Thursday night to appeal,” Lyons said.
“At the moment I haven’t heard anything of an appeal.”
St Pats are the only unbeaten side in the NTFA’s second division this season and will face Uni-Mowbray on Saturday.
