The Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Glen Perrin said several warnings were in place for Friday.
“There’s a chance of thunderstorms and heavy rain about the east on Thursday night and early Friday morning,” he said.
Rain was expected to ease on Friday afternoon and mostly clear by the evening.
A wind warning was expected to be increased to cover most of the state for Friday.
“Large parts of the state will be expecting wind about 50 to 70 km/h hour, with gusts up to 100 km/h,” Mr Perrin said.
Heavy rain and flash flooding was expected to cause dangerous driving conditions, prompting a road weather alert to be issued for the east, south and central parts of the state on Friday.
