The Primary Industries, Park, Water and Environment department said there had been no further detections of adult fruit fly or larvae either inside or outside the current Northern Tasmanian and Furneaux control areas.
Eradication of fruit fly from the state is the department’s continued focus, a department spokesperson said.
“Ongoing public support and vigilance continues to be an important part of the response,” the spokesperson said.
“The public continue to support the effort through reporting of possible fruit fly or larvae for investigation, as well as complying with current areas and restrictions in place in these areas.”
The department reminds people not to move fruit fly host produce out of control areas.
Agfest patrons can speak with department staff and find out more about fruit fly eradication at the three-day agricultural event later this week.
“As part of the ongoing public awareness, DPIPWE will have information available on the threat fruit fly poses, what is being done to eradicate it and how the public can continue to assist in the effort as part of its display at Agfest,” the spokesperson said.
