The field includes three former MPs.
A former Liberal member of the House of Assembly, the Duke of Avram, has thrown his hat into the ring.
The Duke was the member for Lyons from 1989 to 1992.
Former members of the Legislative Council, Tony Mulder and Doug Parkinson are also standing in Prosser.
The seat of Prosser stretches from Conara in the north to Port Arthur in the south and also includes the Glamorgan-Spring Bay municipality.
The seat of Hobart has attracted a field of six candidates, including sitting MLC Rob Valentine who is seeking another six year term.
Polling Day is from 8am to 6pm on May 5.
Pre-polling is available for voters who cannot vote on election day.
From Monday April 16 to Friday 4 May voters can vote at:
Hobart - Ground Level, 144 Macquarie St
Sorell - Sorell Memorial Hall, CWA Room, Cole St
Thursday 3 May and Friday 4 May:
Swansea - Swansea Town Hall, 12 Franklin St
Postal vote applications are available at any post office within the Hobart and Prosser divisions, at the Tasmanian Electoral Commission office, on our website www.tec.tas.gov.au or by calling 1800 801 701.
Electors who are interstate can vote at any State or Territory Electoral Commission office between Tuesday 17 April and Friday 4 May.
