Classification of foods
GOOD sense in the article by Andrea Dawkins (The Examiner, 5/4/17).
Her classification of foods as entertainment versus nourishment was pertinent.
Also her mention of the role that school vegetable plots are playing is important publicity for these pupil efforts.
In order to encourage the undoubted health benefits of backyard vegie plots it would be good to see more promotion of these.
Just a small plot of 25 square metres (5X5) would allow such things as carrots, beans, peas, lettuces, tomatoes, silver and red beet and corn to be grown.
All able to meet a family’s healthy needs and save considerable weekly budget money.
How about some sort of competition organised by Council or a service group to encourage and publicise such endeavours?

Politicians
THIS Easter break one would have to be blind not to notice the amount of boats getting towed along our highways and parked at coastal towns.
The recreational fishing industry contributes massively to these communities on a major economic and ongoing basis.
We live in hope that one day both our state and federal politicians will wake up to the recreational fishers collective voice and start valuing our financial worth to this state.
Their current ignorance and lack of support over that of (often foreign owned) corporate greed at our expense is mind boggling.

Housing
WE CAN decrease property values by building cheap energy efficient houses for the poor.
