Having made an impromptu decision to nominate the playgroup for Launceston Bunnings’ Surf Life Saving cubby house giveaway, Mr Terry was thrilled when just days later he received news that his entry had been successful.
St Helens Playgroup community inclusion worker Sally Johnson said the cubby house would do wonders for the volunteer-run outfit.
“We were over the moon because they’re a family of four children so he could have just nominated his family, but he put it in thinking of these four mums that volunteer their own time here to run playgroup,” Mrs Johnson said.
“It's just so fitting because at the moment we've got the Surf Rescue Life Saving Club down here so we've done a bit of a display in the child and family centre, so now we've got the cubby house inside as well and it all blends in.”
