Divided into two themes; ‘lead and progress’ and ‘people and place’, the plan will act as the guiding document for council projects and programs between 2017 and 2027.
Northern Midlands mayor David Downie said the plan would provide a crucial launching pad for council to build on into the future.
“All plans can be changed but it’s important to have a plan to work to,” Cr Downie said.
“A strategic plan will set the strategies we adopt into the future.”
The plan details timelines for council’s major infrastructure and planning projects across the next 10 years, such as the Nile Road upgrade, the Longford sport and fitness centre and the Perth Structure Plan.
Cr Downie said projects such as the Campbell Town War Memorial Oval upgrade were already getting under way.
“We've hired an architect and he's working on a design as we speak, the same thing we're doing down at Ross with the park there.
“Council is also working in fixing up the drainage at TRANSlink, there's some negotiations going on as we speak with land easements as to how we handle the water so that's very much part of our strategy to further grow that area.”
“We've also got a strategy paper being done on the sports complex at Perth and linking that into the school, then you've got the growth of Perth that will result from the Perth bypass, so we're working with state government on that.”
Cr Downie encouraged residents to have their say on the plan by collecting a response form from their town or village centre, or by completing the online survey on the Northern Midlands Council website.
“The people in the Northern Midlands have that opportunity and we hope that we get people who are interested enough to make submissions.”
Submissions must be received before close of business on December 1.
