Melvyn Morrow is one of the three writers of Dusty – The Original Pop Diva, and is in Tasmania to help put the final touches in place for the Launceston Musical Society’s production of the musical.

“It’s been busy but that’s what I am here for, this is production week so it basically means they write down [a schedule] from 7pm to 10pm and it usually goes until about 1am,” he said. “And as I said to them that is exactly the same in professional theatre and community theater and I love it.”
Mr Morrow said he has seen more productions of Dusty than most people have seen musicals, but he still has a great sense of fulfillment in visiting our local performers.
“I’m particularly enchanted by the discipline of the company and their graciousness and the talent is there... I’m hoping I can be useful and they are all open to listening,” he said.
The playwright encouraged locals to come and have a chat with him on opening night. “Tell anyone to wander up and say g’day, I’m not royalty I’m just a writer from across the water,” he said.
