Owner Drew Burns has been working on the venture for seven years, and after receiving his liquor licensing, tobacco licensing and planning approvals is eager to finally see his idea become a reality.
“Cinco is a curated space where we’ve tried to bring together the five passions that I have and the things that people enjoy about the finer things of life,” he said.
“We’ve definitely got a focus on Tasmania; five Tasmanian single malt whiskeys available, five excellent sparkling wines from Tasmania, handmade cocktails, local food plates, cigars and equipment...”
Patrons will not be able to smoke onsite, but will have the option of taking away Cuban, Nicaraguan and Dominican Republic-made cigars.
Mr Burns said the view from his location close to the Princess Theatre was worth the walk up two flights of stairs.
“I think it’s a great spot,” he said.
“We just want it to be a space where people can relax, they can learn something, they can take something away.”
