NBN, formerly NBN Co, announced plans to rollout the communications technology to the areas earlier this month as part of a push to cover an additional 65,000 Tasmanian homes before September, 2016.
NBN maps show that fixed wire plans are being developed by the company, which should see multi-technology connections delivered to areas including Launceston Airport and Northern Midlands Council's TransLink hub.
Northern Midlands Mayor David Downie said he was pleased to know more areas of the municipality were being added to the initiative.
"Obviously we're interested in seeing NBN expanded as quickly as possible," Cr Downie said.
"It's just one of those things, NBN is so much better than existing internet services - they can't do everywhere all at once and people have to bide their time, but the wait for it is a bit frustrating.
"There are huge benefits to having it, huge speed increases."
He said the council should consider putting more pressure on the federal government to progress the rollout in more areas of the region.
NBN Tasmanian corporate affairs manager Russell Kelly said multi-technology, including fibre-to-the-node, would arrive in the newly listed areas.
"One in three Tasmanians is now able to connect to the NBN network," Mr Kelly said.
"Tasmania already has many urban areas connected to the NBN network, with many regional and rural areas serviced by a growing footprint of fixed wireless towers.
"The switch on momentum is growing in Tasmania as we continue to provide access to new communities and help open up new opportunities for business, education and entertainment."
